WCAG Study
Study Case with Uber App to be WCAG compliant, focusing senior citizens.
Nowadays, more than ever, usability is crucial for making interfaces more accessible to the public. As humans, each of us has unique needs. Let's strive to make technology more user-friendly.
With all that in mind, a research study was conducted to ensure the Uber app complies with WCAG standards.
WCAG?
WCAGWeb Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) is developed through the W3C process in cooperation with individuals and organizations around the world, with the goal of providing a single shared standard for web content accessibility that meets the needs of individuals, organizations, and governments internationally.
In this particular research, senior users were my main focus.
Analysing the actual UI
In this step, I made an analysis of the current uber app. What are the strong and weak points and how can I make it more attractive for the senior users.
Wireframe
Wireframe, also known as a "page schematic" or "screen blueprint", is a visual guide that represents the skeletal framework of a website or application. They are created to arrange elements to best accomplish a particular purpose. The purpose is usually driven by a business objective and a creative idea. The wireframe depicts the page layout or arrangement of the website's content, including interface elements and navigational systems, and how they work together.
the UI was made to impact the actual users and seniors users.
Many WCAG guidelines were implemented in this project, such as contrast (1.4.3), Identify Input Purpose (1.3.5), Headings and Label (2.4.6), and others.
Proposal changes
Every change was made looking to reach the most user-friendly UI possible, following the WCAG guides. Here I explain the changes and why I would make them.
